Why Engineering: I chose to study engineering because it allowed me to blend my love of problem-solving with my interest in technology. From a young age, I was interested by computers and their potential to change our lives. Engineering allows me to address complicated challenges while also contributing to society by developing solutions that benefit everyone. I believe that engineers have an important role in shaping the future, and I am thrilled to be a part of that journey.
Favorite ISU Memory: Among the myriad memories I’ve amassed at Iowa State University, my favorite is undoubtedly my senior year experience working as an IFYS leader for ISSO, collaborating with exceptional student leaders and supervisors, Jenna, Katherine, and Elise.
Something Unique About Me: Beyond engineering, I find joy in a variety of hobbies like cooking, exploring new cuisines, baking, traveling, photography, and reading. These activities provide me with a refreshing break from my studies and work, energizing me and allowing me to explore my creativity.
Words of Wisdom (for current and future engineering scholars): As an engineer, I would advise current and future engineering scholars to embrace challenges as opportunities for growth. Engineering is a field that constantly evolves, presenting new and complex problems to solve. It’s essential to approach these challenges with a positive attitude, curiosity, and a willingness to learn. Lastly, never underestimate the power of perseverance. Engineering requires dedication and hard work, but the rewards of solving real-world problems and making a difference in society are truly fulfilling.
