Why Engineering: I chose engineering because I have always had the desire to help the world and the people in it. The application of engineering is limited only by our current capabilities. I strive to be a part of the growth towards a solution in solving some of the issues we face in manufacturing and agriculture. The beauty and integration of math and physics help create the possibility of a future where sustainability is standard practice.
Favorite ISU Memory: My favorite memory at ISU would be the 2018 Winterfest. I especially liked taking a picture with my friends and getting a snow globe of the memory. It was quite exciting to meet president Wendy Wintersteen in person as well.
Something Unique About Me: Something unique about me is how I balance my passions. Although I am a STEM girl at heart, I absolutely adore Spoken Word and use it as a creative outlet. I have shared my poetry pieces through competition, for commission, and through more relaxed casual settings. I like to focus on the intricacies of life and how they’ve influenced many aspects of my personality. Sharing Spoken Word is a fulling performance that I wish I did more of!
Words of Wisdom (for current and future engineering scholars): Set goals for yourself that align with your future plans. Be an active student by participating in as much as you can. Don’t be afraid to talk to your professors and establish networks. If you have the opportunity to study abroad, take it. Co-ops may offset your graduation year, but the experience makes it worth it.
