Why Engineering: I decided to pursue engineering due to my fascination with wanting to know how things were made, operated, and just worked in general. I would take video game consoles and computers apart to see how they worked. I also worked in my school’s theater setting up lights and sound. I wanted to learn more about how audio and visual systems worked and wanted to see how electrical engineering can be used towards the arts.
Favorite ISU Memory: October 13th, 2018: Watching the unranked Iowa State Cyclone football team beat #6 West Virginia 30-14 in the night at Jack Trice Stadium. Everyone in the stadium was just so happy and ecstatic and we stormed the field to celebrate. It is a night that I will never forget.
Something Unique About Me: I try to see the artistic applications of electrical engineering and go beyond just the practical applications (medicine, defense, agriculture, etc.) I dig into thinking about how traditional applications of engineering can be used to put on an audio and visual display to fascinate people and get people interested in unconventional engineering.
Words of Wisdom: Your life and career does not follow a straight line. There will be twists, turns, and forks in the road. Have patience and learn to hit pause. We live in a world that likes to compare everyone to each other. Instead of comparing yourself to others, compare yourself to a previous version of yourself. Always strive for growth and continue to learn.
