Why Engineering: I went to an engineering conference in high school with no idea of what I wanted to do. My goal in life was to utilize my desire for continuous learning to secure financial security while also improving the world. The moment I saw a demonstration of an artificial heart locked in my want to become an engineer. Coming home that night, the vision of creating a product to transform another individual’s life resonated with me.
Favorite ISU Memory: My favorite ISU memories are the ones that I disremember. For a fraction of your life, you are within walking distance of your best friends, your schedule is truly what you want it to be, and the resources the city and ISU provide set you up for success. If I had to provide one piece of advice, it would be to have as much fun as you can. Answer yes three times more than no.
Something Unique About Me: What makes me unique is my perspective. During my travels, I have witnessed people who are not as fortunate. In my opinion, many people would frown when faced with these people. People choose to stay in a tourist area the majority of the time, not realizing they are missing out on the country’s daily grind. On the contrary, I love interacting with the actual locals and customs. Happiness comes in many forms of life. Indulge in diversity.
Words of Wisdom: Find ways to stand out from the pack. Be involved in extracurricular activities and broaden your horizons. Talk to your professors. Don’t understand something? Ask them. Don’t underestimate their desire to help you. Need an extension? Ask them. The worst thing they can do is say no. Professors were in your shoes once and will notice you reaching out. Connect with peers, professors, and industry professionals. One day they will help you reach your goals.
