Meet the Divine Engineers – a rookie team from Waukee already accomplishing great things in the world of FIRST LEGO League. United by their love for STEM, this team values creativity and innovation while solving problems.

The Divine Engineers went to State for the first time this FLL season, a moment that team members were quite proud of. “We enjoyed meeting different teams from all over the state and were inspired to learn more and continue participating in FLL,” says a team member.

A new opportunity now faces the Divine Engineers: the chance to represent Iowa at the American Robotics Invitational, held in Jersey City. Although the stakes are high, this team is ready! “Our dedicated rookie team is prepared to refine our strategy, enhance our skills and tools, and make a strong impact on the competition,” say coaches Rajesh and Rajasekar. “As coaches, we are incredibly proud to represent Iowa at the NJ National Event. We are truly grateful to Iowa State University for making this opportunity possible.”

The Divine Engineers have been working to enhance their skills throughout the entire 2024-2025 season, whether it’s spending over 300 hours practicing, improving their coding, or meeting with professors and other industry experts. The team’s coaches referenced their hands-on experience with real-world engineering concepts, witnessing their team evolve from a dependent group needing guidance into a self-driven team.

Team members are thrilled to compete at the American Robotics Invitational, saying they are most excited to compete with such high performing teams, as well as seeing different robots and what they can do.

So, what’s next for this ambitious team? The Divine Engineers plan on continuing their journey with FIRST LEGO League next year, as well as mentoring a new Explore team. But first, the Divine Engineers are focused on the challenge ahead of them: blowing everyone out of the water at the American Robotics Invitational.
