Meet the Coding GOATs

Author: a2316_engss

The Coding GOATs, a team from Dallas Center, are certainly not new to competing in high stakes competitions. This team has been together for three years, with some members working together since they were first graders in Explore.

One of the team’s greatest accomplishments is having experienced a national post-season event before. After attending the Razorback National Invitational last season, the Coding GOATS are even more prepared for the World Festival in Houston.

Entirely revamping the way that their robot is programmed by learning Python is one way that the Coding GOATs have improved their skills this season. They also learned how nitrogen runoff from Iowa farmland impacts algae blooms in the ocean and have even developed a working prototype of a nitrogen filter for tile drainpipes. To prepare for the World Festival, they’ve been gathering feedback on this nitrogen filter. And to make things tastier, they’re hosting a bake sale to fundraise for the event!

Coaches Jen and Jordan are proudest of the initiative and creativity that the Coding GOATs demonstrate. “Their collaboration and ingenuity are truly inspiring,” they say.

Going forward, all team members hope to advance to an FTC team. Be sure to look out for the great things this accomplished team will achieve in the future!
