Meet the Innobots

This rookie team is already making waves! As an all-girls team, being led by first year coaches, with more than half of team members not having any FIRST LEGO League experience, the Innobots are proving themselves as an impressive group.

Hailing from Waukee and Johnston, the Innobots were invited to the Western Edge Open in Long Beach, California. Coaches Rajesh and Dharan say that their team has been preparing for the Open by “analyzing our past runs and incorporating feedback to elevate our strategies. Beyond technical preparation, we’re also focusing on teamwork, leadership, and communication to ensure we present our best on a global stage.”

The Innobots have been working on improving their teamwork and technical skills all season long. By breaking down tasks systematically, this team has overcome communication and organizational challenges. Learning to share ideas, accept feedback, and problem-solve are all strengths they’ve gained this year. They’ve also “embraced the belief that science and technology can be powerful tools for solving real-world problems.”

A favorite memory the Innobots have is meeting with two marine researchers. The team was able to visit their private aquarium and learn all about marine life and how to sustain it.

The Innobots plan on returning to FLL next season, incorporating what they will learn from the Western Edge Open into their strategy. “We’re beyond excited to represent our community and share our passion for innovation with teams from around the world.”
