Volunteering with FIRST

Make a difference in Iowa’s future by inspiring a new generation of problem-solvers. Volunteering at an event is a great way to share technical or professional knowledge, but you do not need special skills or expertise to volunteer. FIRST LEGO League events can only happen with a team of dedicated volunteers like you. Volunteers can work directly with teams as coaches and mentors over the course of the season. Or they can volunteer for a one-day event with roles ranging from field resetters to judges.

STEP 1:Register with FIRST

Create an account in the FIRST Dashboard. If you already have a FIRST account, you can skip to Step 4. Finish setting up your account before continuing. Detailed instructions on how to do this can be found in the video below.

STEP 2: Respond to subsequent email from FIRST

Go to your email and click the link sent to you by FIRST. Follow the instructions within the link.

STEP 3: Complete your profile

STEP 4: Apply to Volunteer at the FIRST LEGO League event in Iowa

You can also find this application page by going to your FIRST Dashboard, clicking on the “Volunteer Registration” tab at the top, and clicking the “Event Volunteering” button on the left side of the page. This will allow you to search for events in Iowa. .

STEP 5: Await more detailed information from the event Volunteer Coordinator

The Volunteer Coordinator will contact you as the event gets closer so you can complete a few steps specific Iowa State University and working with youth.
